Infant and Toddler Seating when Flying with Kids

Finances can be a big stumbling
block that prevents some families from traveling after children are
born. The cost of a vacation goes up considerably when there are more
family members to consider. For this reason, it is common for families to take
vacations that are within reach by car.
However, airlines recognize
this problem and provide some incentives for families with small children
to keep them traveling on airplanes. |
|
|
One such incentive is directly
targeted at reducing travel costs. Some airlines offer as much as 50%
discounts for seats assigned to babies. Check with your airline to
determine your options for obtaining reduced airfare for your children.
Airlines classify an infant as a child under 2
years old. On domestic flights an infant traveling as a lap child
usually travels free. On long international flights, it is common
for an infant to pay as low as 10% of an adult fare when flying as a lap
child. Check with your airline to determine discounts that they honor.
Discounts for seats assigned to
children ages 2 to 11 years old vary according by airline. Before you
decide that it is too expensive to take that distant vacation because
you must pay for your small children to fly, contact your airline to
determine your eligible discounts. You may find out that it is not too
expensive after all.

The FlyingRugrats.com
Flying Kids Mission
As parents, we are
responsible for molding our precious babies into well rounded
adults who have an appreciation for the variety of opportunities
that they have available to them as they grow and develop as
individuals. Exposing children to varying geographical
locations and cultures around the world is an important teaching
method that many parents have the option to use for developing
generations of culturally aware future leaders who have
childhood experiences that help them understand and personally
relate to global issues. It is the mission of Flying Rugrats to arm parents with information about flying
with children, toddlers or infants strategies in an effort to
dispel fear or apprehension about family travel so that families
may travel freely and better educate our future world citizens
through positive travel experiences.
